From The Desk of The CJROTC Program Director

The Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps of Christian Schools (CJROTC) Program exists to develop informed, responsible citizens and to instill a strong sense of pride, discipline, character, and leadership in high school students. This program is purpose-driven and mission-focused, designed to positively shape young men and women through a structured leadership education environment.

To fulfill this mission, the CJROTC of Christian Schools Program is committed to teaching and instilling the following principles in every cadet:

  • Character Education, Bearing, Unselfishness, Academic Achievement, Discipline, Organization, Wellness, Leadership, Sound Judgment, Justice, Loyalty, Diversity, and Decisiveness

In addition, every cadet is expected to develop and demonstrate:

  • Self-Motivation, Initiative, Responsibility, Courage, Integrity, Goal-Setting, Teamwork, Leadership, Loyalty, and Personal Accountability

Our partnerships with schools across the United States represent a serious and intentional leadership education initiative. The CJROTC Program exists solely to develop character, citizenship, and responsibility—producing well-rounded individuals prepared to lead and serve. While this comprehensive learning environment, anchored in a military structure, is not intended for every student, substantial academic and leadership research consistently demonstrates the significant benefits for those who choose to participate.

It is critical to clearly state that the CJROTC of Christian Schools Program is not a Department of Defense (DoD) JROTC program. CJROTC operates under its own authority, policies, and operational standards. As such, strict rules and regulations are required to be followed at all times.

This program is specifically designed for Christian schools, and its structure, expectations, and values reflect that purpose.

The CJROTC Program maintains high standards and does not operate under the assumption that parents, cadets, or administrators are always correct in matters of program execution or discipline. Our instructors are charged with requiring 110% effort and accountability from cadets and from school administrators supporting the program. The integrity of the CJROTC Program will not be compromised to make participation easier or more convenient for any individual.

This program is a meaningful and necessary addition to any hosting school; however, we will not compromise program standards, expectations, or instructor authority. CJROTC operates at 125% effort at all times, and we require the same level of commitment, cooperation, and professionalism from our hosting schools. There are no waivers, shortcuts, or deviations from CJROTC policies once a school has entered into partnership with the program.

The CJROTC Curriculum was the first JROTC-based program to receive national accreditation under AdvancED and is directly aligned with National Education Standards. In response to local needs, the CJROTC Program may be implemented using several approved models, including traditional, cluster, school-within-a-school, or stand-alone academy formats.

Within the private school environment—often challenged by fiscal and staffing constraints—the CJROTC Program offers a cooperative and attractive partnership. This partnership provides meaningful academic and extracurricular opportunities that are not elective “throw-away” courses, but credit-bearing leadership classes. Cadets earn high school credit for each year of successful program completion.

Both the CJROTC Program of Christian Schools and each hosting school share common and unique responsibilities. Hosting schools are expected to support the CJROTC Program fully, not only during the academic day but also through robust extracurricular participation, including drill teams and community engagement activities. Support for CJROTC cadets must be consistent with the level of support provided to other school-sponsored programs and activities.

Each hosting school is contractually obligated to execute the CJROTC Program as designed and directed by Headquarters CJROTC, in accordance with the Program of Instruction (POI). This includes providing agreed-upon facilities, maintaining required participation levels, and ensuring appropriate institutional support. While the CJROTC of Christian Schools Program remains open to discussing concerns that arise from the evolving landscape of education—and is willing to consider mutually agreed-upon contractual adjustments—we maintain firm expectations that all contractual obligations will be honored.

The CJROTC Program of Christian Schools will be executed as directed. Facilities, instructional support, and program standards must be provided as agreed and intended. We have built better individuals and leaders for thousands of cadets since 2013, and we will continue to do so without compromise.
